Mahendra Singh Dhoni has to carry the burden of expectations of a billion people. So after winning the World Cup - after a gap of 28 years - the captain cool lightened his burden by shaving his head to fulfill a pledge to the almighty who has been kind enough to him.

The Indian captain took the world by surprise on Sunday morning by sporting bald look. He apparently shaved off his hair in his hotel room.

Dhoni is believed to have made a commitment to go bald before a deity close to his hometown in Ranchi even before the World Cup started.

The priest there had reportedly advised him to shave off the head between 2.45 am and 3 am. The World Cup winning skipper will now offer the hair at the Balaji temple in Tirupati.

Dhoni’s new look was first spotted when he appeared for an official photo shoot in front of the Gateway of India in the southern part of the city. Many other Indian players also posed for the cameramen with the trophy.

It may be recalled that Dhoni had done away with his long locks afterIndia won the World Twenty20 in South Africa in four years ago.
